Most Inquisitive Gelada Baboon

We spent 3 days in the Simien mountains and on our last camp we came across this troop of Gelada’s that seemed to be very interested in us. B & I sneaked up to this one baboon and watch it as it played with a little one. UNTIL……….she saw her’s reflection in my lens. She was fascinated in herself and slowly came closer and closer. Eventually she was so close I didn’t need to look through the view finder, those that know photography these shots were all shot with a 16mm lens. Once she was happy with the new mirror, she proceeded to turn around and was expecting me to de-flea her, she almost sat right on my foot. INSANE!!!!!!

Is that me????

    What an incredible experience!

  2. These are the cutest gelada photos I’ve seen for awhile. By the way, she might have turned around expecting her “image” to groom her since geladas do not have mirror self recognition.
